Summer Exhibition 9th July 2011

Virginia Water Art Society Summer Exhibition 9th July 2011 held on The Green Station Approach Virginia Water Surrey

This year we decided to hold the exhibition in July instead of June hoping for better weather and also less clashing with other local events.  We did have one or two showers throughout the day but but the hardy Artists braved the weather and stuck it out covering their paintings with polythene until the showers passed.  We had with lots of interest from the public and sold 19 paintings lots of pottery and some jewellery and were rewarded with a small profit. The event is the highlight in our social calendar and a chance for all our members to catch up with each other and was most enjoyable.

Brett Hudson Demonstration on Humorous Cartoons 1.6.11

This evening the members of Virginia Water Art Society were treated to a demonstration ob cartoon painting by Brett Hudson who first showed us his skills in painting his drawings and then gave us a quick demonstration on his methods of drawing and sketching

Virginia Water Art Society members were treated to a very entertaining evening with Mike Skidmore who produced an oil portrait using a very unusual method of first drawing the face then glazing over it with a dark glaze then with a rag removing some of the glaze to show varying tonal shapes depicting highlighted areas which produced a very effective image which he then began to work on with colour
