Ben Manchipp Guache Demonstration 7.3.12
Ben Manchipp came to demonstrate painting in Guache although most of us have at some time or another used guache, it has probably been to place highlights on our water colour paintings. However Ben completed the whole painting using only guache and along the way he demonstrated his particular style of painting we all enjoyed the demonstration enormously.

Rodney Lucas Demonstration 1.2.12 A Farm in Genesis Oils
It was a very cold night, nevertheless we had a good turnout to watch the demonstration by Rodney Lucas President of Virginia Water Art Society. Rodney demonstrated the use of Genesis Oil which have are quite different to other oils in that they do not dry until dried with either a hair dryer or placed in the oven to dry. Rodney used the oils and painted a farm scene using artistic licence to slightly alter the image from his original photograph in order to enhance the composition. In under two hours Rodney amazingly completed all but the final touches of his painting and passed on his tips and hints for using the oils whilst working. The members thoroughly enjoyed his demonstration and it was well worth braving the weather. As well as having agreat demonstration we also had a visit from a local press photographer who took several pictures of Rodney and will be doing an article for us in our local papers either the Staines & Egham or the Informer. Also Marie Cook received the Pat Hare Award for the Mayors Favourite Painting which was her watercolour The Wave we have had Marie's name engraved on the award and the date, we also had our Rose Bowl award engraved with our Societies name and the Winner of this award was John Fordham for the publics vote for their favourite painting. John was unfortunately not present at the meeting
