Demonstration By Paul Simmons perspective & Watercolour 4.9.19

A jolly good evening was had by the members of Virginia Water Art Society on Wednesday night when Paul Simmons came to demonstrate to the group the principles of perspective and then went on  to produce a watercolour painting of a New York Scene.  Paul shared with the group his thought process as he painted giving us lots of information on technique and  materials used. Thank you Paul for a very engaging demonstration 

SWA Exhibition at Mall Galleries

25th-29th September

The Society of Women Artists is holding its 158th Annual Exhibition at Mall Galleries, The Mall, London SW1 from Wednesday 25th to Sunday 29th September, open to the public from 10am to 5pm daily (1pm on Sunday). The exhibition will be opened officially on Wednesday 25th at 11am, by HRH Princess Michael of Kent, who will also present the awards – an invitation to this private view is attached.

SPECIAL FUNDRAISING EVENING

Tuesday, 24th September, 6.30-9.00pm (doors open 4pm)

The third SWA Young People's Art Initiative fundraising event to support and encourage young and emerging talent will be an evening of sketching, music and wine. Over 400 artworks by outstanding professional artists will be available with a special 5% discount on all sales at this evening's preview.

Demonstration by Jane Rhodes Pastel Landscape 7.8.19

Tonight Virginia Water Art Society welcomed Jane Rhodes who demonstrated in pastels painting a landscape with a very different twist Jane showed us how she primed her pastel paper and underpainted with inks and water colours before going in with the pastels to create a very effective painting.  Jane shared with us samples of different pastel papers and and her method of the use of pastels giving us lots of information on what she was using.  The evening was very enjoyable and many of us were inspired to have a go.
