Demonstration By Henry Rimmer 6th April 2016 watercolour portrait

One of the hardest paintings to achieve a good result with are watercolour portraits and tonight we were treated to one of the best Henry Rimmer made it look so easy the control he demonstrated over the water and colour that he used was brilliant obviously many years practise has culminated in such control.  Henry shared with us his methods and techniques the way he layers the paints and varies the colours blending them on the paper as he goes was fascinating. Thank you Henry we really enjoyed your demonstration  

Demonstration by Freda Anderson 2.3.16

Freda Anderson came to demonstrate landscape in Gouache and Pastel and the members of Virginia Water Art Society were very please to see Freda who is a regular demonstrator at our monthly meetings.  Freda has in the past demonstrated Portrait and still life painting but tonight we saw her showing us how she approaches her landscapes which is very different from her usual style and very interesting to see how the painting developed. Demonstration By Trevor Osbourne 3.2.15

The members of Virginia Water Art Society 

enjoyed the demonstration given by Trevor Osbourne this evening. Trevor showed us his method of creating chaos and then turning it into a portrait of his dog.  After applying some masking fluid to a    pre drawn sketch then using inks to outline the darkest of the darks, Trevor used acrylic inks in  bright colours in an abstract way, and then the final stages were done with pastels.  Lots of tips and hints were generously given during his demonstration and we were all thoroughly entertained

Stephen Foster Demonstration 6th January Pallet Knife Landscape in Acrylic & Oil

Stephen Foster's demonstration using only a pallet knife was a first for the Virginia Water Art Society members the first coat was done in Acrylic with the pallet knife and then the final coat was done in oil. Stephen explained his methods as he went, he said that by using only the pallet knife mad for a freer looser style of painting which in turn allowed for more expression from the Artist, and that by using a first coat in Acrylic guided the way for the oils and showed where improvements could be made in the final coat of paint.  Thank You Stephen for a very enjoyable demonstration.
