Ron Ripley Demonstration Portrait in Pastel 1.3.13

Virginia Water Art Society welcomed Ron Ripley to our monthly meeting where he demonstrated pastels doing a portrait of one of our members Ida Montague.  During the demonstration Ron gave us information on the materials that he used and the way in which he approaches his portraits, sharing with us his tips and hints on how to use the pastels and the best way in which to achieve the desired results.

Demonstration by Freda Anderson 3.4.13

The demonstration by Freda Anderson was enjoyed by many members of the Virginia Water Art Society on Wednesday evening.  Due to time constraints many Artists come with pre drawn compositions however Freda shared with us this evening her thoughts and processes involved when she set out and composed her drawing sketch on the spot which was very interesting and informative.  Freda then went on to paint using water colours constantly referring to the still life that she had set up and the sketch which she had just completed.  Our new camera equipment enable the audience to view of Freda's work showing brush strokes and techniques in close up views which greatly improved the experience of watching live demonstrations  

All Day Workshop with Sera Knight 16.3.13

Sera Knight's Workshop watercolour street scene with people was greatly enjoyed. Sera first demonstrated painting a busy street with lots of people and traffic, we then attempted our own version thanks to Alan Mar and his neighbour  who photocopied several photos for the group to use as a reference. Sara then helped us individually as we progressed with our own painting. We learned a lot  throughout the day and all enjoyed the process very much.

Drawing for the Terrified By David Lewry 6.3.13

What fun we had at the monthly meeting of Virginia Water Art Society on Wednesday 6th March when David Lewry came talk to us about drawing and explained the mechanics and emotions involved in drawing and got the audience to participate and in this way demonstrated how we can all achieve good results, his talk was very informative explaining some of the things we can do to improve our drawing skills.  We all enjoyed the evening so much we hope that David will come back and do a workshop for us next year.
