The Late Rodney Lucas President of Virginia Water Art Society

A compilation of Paintings By The Late Rodney Lucas including his own demonstration for the Society and a Portrait of him by another Artist

The Late Rodney Lucas President of Virginia Water Art Society

It is with great sadness that we say good by to our President Rodney Lucas who passed away on 10th September 2014.  The funeral was held at the Henley on Thames Woodland Burial Grounds photographed below, sheep graze the fields and red Kites are abundant and in a few years from now the natural landscape will be covered in a forest. On the day the sun was shining and the landscape was peaceful, 7 members of the Society went to pay our respects and the funeral was well attended. Refreshments were served in the Maltsters Arms afterwards.   Rodney was such an integral part of the Society and much loved and appreciated for all the wonderful work he did for the Society over so many years.  He was almost a founder member in the 1960's and held the longest membership.  Last year we reversed an earlier decision not to have any more honorary members and mad him an honorary member to express our gratitude.

Demonstration by Kim Page 3.9.14

Yet again we were rescued By Kim Page who came to demonstrate when the scheduled demonstrator was unable to make it, fortunately for us, as we are always pleased to see Kim demonstrate and tonight we were not disappointed.  Kim's landscape in watercolour was amazing his technique and expert abilities had us all enthralled this evening whilst we watched him paint and at the same time he explained the process. The resulting painting was fabulous and we are all looking forward to seeing Kim again. Thank you Kim
